It’s tricky knowing how to get cinnamon in your diet. So, we’re spilling the beans (or the spice) on the best ways to eat cinnamon for your health and wellness.

1. Stir into your porridge

Porridge is tasty, fibre-rich and protein-boosting, but it can be a little plain. So, instead of eating bland oats, make your breakfast taste like freshly baked apple pie by adding cinnamon. While your oat porridge heats up on the hob, stir in chopped apple until it softens slightly. Next, add a pinch of cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg for a heavenly flavour. Top with pumpkin seeds and walnuts, then finish with a drizzle of syrup for the ultimate cold-weather treat.

2. Dust Cinnamon over apple slices

Apple is a quick treat that gives you fibre and energy, and you can increase its benefits by dusting apple slices with powdered cinnamon. The spice wonderfully compliments the sweet and tangy taste of apples for a mood-boosting snack. Pro tip - add a spoonful of peanut butter on the side for protein.

3. Sprinkle onto toast

Breakfast and snacks can get boring, but we have a simple recipe to shake things up. Well, we call it a recipe, but you can make it in three minutes! Pop wholewheat bread into a toaster and use the time to slice up a banana. Once your toast is done, smooth on the peanut butter and banana slices, then sprinkle with cinnamon. Garnish with chia seeds for a dash of omega-3.

4. Add a pinch to your coffee

If you’re a coffee lover, this one is for you. Whenever you make a coffee, stir in a bit of cinnamon. It gives the drink a light, spicy and woody flavour while boosting the antioxidant benefits of your coffee.
