Modern Slavery Statement

JG Foods Ltd acknowledges that Modern slavery and human trafficking are serious global issues. We do not tolerate modern slavery within our own operations, and we expect those in our supply chains to uphold lawful and ethical standards.

This statement is made pursuant to section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and outlines our approach to preventing modern slavery within our business and supply chains during the financial year ending 31/12/2026. It is not intended to create contractual terms with any party, nor to describe every action we may take in every circumstance.

Our business and supply chains

JG Foods Ltd t/a Grape Tree is a UK-based health-foods retailer with a national retail estate and online operations. We source goods for resale (finished products and ingredients) and goods/services not for resale (e.g. logistics, property, marketing, and other operational services) from the UK and overseas. Our supply chains may involve multiple tiers and a range of geographies.

We take an ongoing, risk-based approach to our supply chain, considering factors such as country of origin, product type, and the complexity of supply chains, including where multiple tiers may be involved. This approach is reviewed periodically and allows us to refocus on areas that may present a higher risk.

Governance and oversight

Overall accountability for this statement rests with the Board of Directors of JG Foods Limited. Day-to-day responsibility for implementation sits with senior management across procurement, operations, and compliance functions.

Our approach is kept under regular review to ensure it remains appropriate to the nature and scale of our business and supply chains.

We encourage and support colleagues and those within our supply chain to raise any concerns. Reports can be made through line managers or by contacting the business directly via [email protected].

Policies and expectations

We maintain and periodically review internal policies that set out expected standards of conduct. 

These include, among others, our:

•    Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Policy (setting our zero-tolerance stance);
•    We engage with suppliers on their code of conduct to ensure alignment with lawful, fair, and ethical treatment of workers
•    Relevant HR and compliance policies for colleagues.

We expect suppliers and service partners to comply with applicable laws, prohibit forced, bonded or compulsory labour.

We engage directly with suppliers as part of our ongoing approach to due diligence, maintaining regular communication and building long-term relationships. This allows us to assess risks in a proportionate and practical way, rather than relying solely on standardised questionnaires or audits.

During the financial year, we have continued to engage with suppliers and maintain oversight of higher-risk areas within our supply chain as part of this approach.

We also focus on:

- maintaining awareness among relevant colleagues; and
- considering proportionate enhancements to our processes where they are likely to be effective.

Any steps taken will depend on risk, resources, and evolving best practice, and may vary across our supply base.
