There is nothing quite as satisfying as hot cider. Cloves spice up the natural sweetness of the honey, maple syrup, vanilla bean, and star anise. Delicious and comforting, this drink is equally loved by adults and kids (if you replace cider with juice). And you can reheat as needed.

To Make:

  1. In a large pan combine the cider, pomegranate juice and maple syrup.
  2. Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, vanilla pod, star anise, and orange zest. Bring mixture to a boil; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Strain to remove all solids.
  3. Serve warm, garnished with clove-studded orange slices if desired.

Why not try?

You can either discard the four oranges that are needed for the zest, or juice them and add the juice to the apple cider and pomegranate juice.
